PANJIM: Twelve pro-English legislators who met in the city today to compel the government to give in to their demand for grants to schools having English as medium of instruction, have posed a formidable challenge to Chief Minister Digambar Kamat by deciding to present their viewpoints in a letter to be submitted to him as well as a Congress emissary.
The twelve, all belonging to the Congress, who met at the residence of PWD Minister Churchill Alemao this morning discussed the issue minutely and decided to submit their viewpoint to the Kamat government and Congress emissary in-charge of Goa desk Jagmeet Singh Brar, who was scheduled to arrive in Goa this evening to assist in ending the raging controversy over the medium of instruction.
Alemao claimed to have the support of all cabinet ministers, including Home Minister Ravi Naik and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, both of whom were not present at the meeting. Alemao said that Rane had called him, expressing his support. He also claimed that the Home Minister was with them on this issue.
Endorsing the stand taken by certain forum and parents demanding English as a medium of instruction, Congress MLAs and ministers resolved to submit a letter to the Congress emissary as well as the chief minister, explaining their stand, informed Alemao. Indicating that they would not in any way relent on the issue, the PWD minister said “choice of parents” should be given preference in deciding on the medium of instruction and most parents want their children to study in the English medium.
While Alemao declined to disclose the group’s strategy, in the event the government refused to change its decision on status quo on the medium of instruction, he opined that the government could not base its decision on a demand made by certain people who are actually misguiding it.
Alemao also stated that youth of Salcete could secure jobs in the State’s flourishing tourism industry in United States, United Kingdom and elsewhere, thanks to their knowledge of English. If the medium of instruction is limited to Konkani and Marathi, they will not get so many opportunities, Alemao pointed out, maintaining that they would stick to their decision.
Hehheheheh! Elections are round the Corner, so the Chickens have come out to Play..... Bahh! Bahhh! Bahhhh! Bahhhhhhhh! (My Granny use to call her Chickens for feed by Continuously saying that...lol)
ReplyDeleteIt’s a Big Shame on the Part of the Goa Police to be Detaining or Arresting Parents who are asking for a right to Education for their Children, why were BBSM People not given the same treatment? Is the Government so bias? Is BBSM created by the Government themselves? Seems like it... We will fight and we will WIN......
ReplyDeleteSome MLA’s are coming now to Support? For what? Where were they earlier? Now just because they realize they want to be on the Winning side that they decided to change their colors and Support FORCE? And oh yeah the Elections are round the corner as well? Is it?
This is nothing as these CONGRESS PROSTITUTES knows the power of the parents and to gain the votes they are making some noise. The Goans should keep in mind to show the door to the corrupt congress and BJP and they should never vote these two parties in future. The Goans should keep the momentum till the government gives the grant to the English medium along with Konkani and useless marathi.
