SPECIAL INVITATION TO THE NEW DGP OF GOA FOR ALCOHOL DURING CEREMONIES

PANJIM: The newly appointed DGP of Goa has received a very sarcastic letter from a group known as Youth of Scheduled Tribes of Ponda Taluka. They have written to the DGP, inviting him for the 12th day mourning ceremonies of the two youth who were killed and dumped into a burning inferno at Balli.

In their letter they have promised the DGP that he would be served alcohol as the traditions of the tribe The letter said “We will be organizing (the) 12th Day mourning ceremony of deaths of late Mangesh Gaonkar and late Dilip Velip at every house of ST community in our taluka. As per our ST tradition, we serve alcohol to all those people who participate in the death rituals of a person.  Hence, we invite all three of you and all other police, (who felt that our leaders were drunk at the time of agitation), to participate in our mourning ceremony and share drinks with us”.

The letter has been submitted to the Ponda police station and the copies of the same have also been circulated to the press.
