GUTKA WORTH RS 28,500 CAUGHT IN HOME MINISTER’S PONDA

PANJIM: A person from Ponda in the constituency of home minister Ravi Naik was caught with gutka worth 28,500 by the food and drugs administration (FDA) on Saturday. Sale of gutka is banned in Goa.  FDA seized 476 packets of 'Josh Gutka' worth 28,500 from the residence of Sudhakar Mutkar in Ponda. FDA food inspector Abel Rodrigues has booked a case against Mutkar under the Goa Public Health Act, 2005.
FDA officials said Mutkar is a regular offender and in the past, two cases were booked against him for similar offences as gutka packets were found at his residence.
FDA had put him under surveillance, as, despite warnings, he had continued with the illegal activity, said officials. An anonymous source said that gutka and drugs are available in the corners of the very Ponda in large quantities inspite the home minister’s declaration that Goa is drug free state.
