EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN BANKS AVAILABLE ON WEBSITES by Ivo D’Souza, Dubai

A few moments back I just received a casual call from a Goan banking officer from Curtorim and apart from our daily hectic schedule, it was a pleasant moment to hear and speak to someone in Konkani at least for some time while I’m miles away from my native Goans.
As we both spoke about some issues that are plaguing Goa, we both agreed in toto that Goans needs to develop however people need to be not only vigilant and responsible but also participate to establish their own welfare and well being rather than electing selfish people to look after our welfare. And as we spoke of unemployment as one of the constrain he acknowledged that although we don’t have a good employment policy to ensure complete employment of Goans, the shocking revelation was that there are many banking opportunities available on the websites but are not advertised on newspapers however Goans are not aware or most of them want to work on cruise liners and so people from other states as far as Bihar and Jharkand are very keen on applying to these jobs in Goa.
Personally I am not against anyone working on cruise liners or taking jobs abroad but I feel that the fundamental role of the various colleges and institutions in addition to their primary duty of good quality education should also be job placement and creating awareness on existing vacancies for the welfare of the people by providing restricted internet access solely for these purpose. Also the panchayats can play a very important role to achieve this success at the village level by giving them free but restricted internet facilities as do some of the highly advanced countries like Australia give through their libraries to the prospective and registered jobseeks in their database. In addition to the cybercafes reaping profits from the entertainment that they provide to the various students in the form of chats, uploads, downloads, gaming and facebook, they too must be roped in as part of their social responsibility towards Goans to downloads and paste the updated information so that cent percent employment is achieved in such profit making sectors since very few can afford the right opportunity and will be willing to go the extra mile to secure govt. jobs in Goa.
