MARGAO: The principal district and session judge, South Goa, Mr U V Bakre, on Friday, rejected the bail application of Prashant Tari, who is under arrest for allegedly raping a girl at an isolated spot at Sonsoddo.
The arrest took place four months after the alleged crime, as the victim failed to identify the perpetrator initially. It was only after the victim was given the number of the alleged accused, that she approached the police. The police called Prashant, on the basis of the number and the victim identified him as the alleged rapist. Prashant is a resident of Shiroda.
According to Margao police, the victim, also from Shiroda, was waiting for her cousin at the Margao Municipal garden, when the accused approached her and offered her a lift. She accepted and the accused later took her to an isolated area at Sonsoddo and allegedly sexually assaulted
