CASINO OPERATORS TO WITHDRAW PETITION

PANJIM: The Division Bench of the High Court of Bombay at Goa, constituting of Mr Justice D G Karnik and Mr Justice F M Reis, heard the petition filed by the casino operators.
The petitioners informed that in view of the Cabinet’s decision to shift their vessels to the Aguada Bay, they would consider withdrawing the petitions.
The petitions were filed by six casino operators, viz, Maharajah, Caravela, Leela, Casino Royale, Arabian Sea King and Pride of Goa. The petition was filed following the decision of the state to move the casinos out of the River Mandovi. The petitions challenged the decision on the ground that the same was in violation of the principles of natural justice.
The state ordered the floating casinos to be moved out of the River Mandovi, as the same were causing a lot of congestion in the free flow of navigational traffic.
The matter will now come up for hearing on September 23, wherein the petitioners have been asked to convey their final intention as to whether they choose to withdraw the petitions or otherwise.

  1. Regardless of how, where and when these cases come up, these Casinos are an unwanted curse introduced into Goa. They are only frequented by Corrupt officials. Criminals, pimps and drug dealers of all nationalities. Replace them with what the Goans citizens want.
