With the theft cases on the rise, the latest one at Margao kept the police on their toes on Monday midnight. After being alerted about 2 thieves trying to ransack a jewelry shop in Margao, the police swung into action and arrested one of them in the act while the other one who managed to flee, was later caught at a Colva hotel.
Margao Police gave the details of the duo as hailing from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. PI Santosh Desai told media that they got the information at about 12:00 in the afternoon of the crime, that in the new market a jewellery shop, behind the Gold Star shop, there were two people who were boring a hole in the wall of the shop. The security of the shop who had gone behind saw them boring a hole in the wall immediately informed the police and then the owner. The police were quick to act and rushed to the scene and nabbed one of the culprits with the help of the security personnel who had called the police there, while the other managed to escape. Meanwhile the owner too had reached the spot.
On enquiry, the culprit disclosed that one of them was from Bihar and the other from UP. The duo was presently staying at Meera Road in Bombay and had come down to Goa with the intention of committing thefts. They had brought along with them all the instruments for cutting, drilling etc, that are required to commit thefts. They also told the police that they were putting up at a hotel at Colva. The police kept a watch on the hotel and as soon as the other accused came there by rickshaw, they grabbed him and brought him back to Margao. They further told the police that they came to Goa with the intention to rob the jewellery shops and then go back to Bombay.
The names of the accused are Raj Kumar Chowdhari, native of Bihar, age 35 yrs and the other one Vijay Kumar Singh native of UP age 35 yrs. (G365)
Well done Margao Police another theft averted due to the alert security guard. Vigilance is the key in solving crimes. These criminals are none other than Non-Goans, Thanks to our disorganised system these people are free to enter the state as and when they please. The Konkan Railway is not a blessing to the Goans but more for the thieves. Lets unite to get rid of the menace in Goan Society. Join Niz Goenkar and spread awareness.
ReplyDeleteThat was a good catch however, we don't need the pictures of the full police department involved in catching these criminals. Records are their for your keeping in the event of a promotion. Let the mugshots of these criminals masterminds flash on every communication media for general publicity. Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteFor a while, we see police in action after someone else does the job, they are there to take charge of the situation. Patroling vehicles of these police fellows are normally seen doing rounds for collecting haftas or near "omlette gadas" for a free treat. After all, they are used to do these routines rather than carrying out patrolling. If they really are serious about the crime in Goa, there should be a increase in patrolling all over 24 hours. I feel, most police force is under the duty of patrolling the politocos.
ReplyDeleteThis is just PUBLICITY to salvage Gua Police fallen image. Who actually fought and caught one of them was the SECURITY guard who pinned the thief on the ground;and not Gua Police. The SECURITY guard kept blowing his whistle and gathered other security guards in the vicinity. Gua POLICE were phoned and called later. Taking Photographs along with the thieves and publishing them looks good, like a family photograph !?
ReplyDeleteDoes the brave security guard who actually caught the first culprit feature in the photo here? The five blokes standing are only trying to take credit for someone else's efforts???
ReplyDeleteNormally in a family photo, the elders stand behind and the kids are made to sit in the front. Aggybaba, the photo is a "family" together, senior members standing and the poor kids sitting down. As the kids share some of their cream, they will dissapear in thin air. Poor security guard can even be turned into culprit. This is the nature of our Gua police.
