TALEIGAO VILLAGERS TO BLOCK MOVES TO WIPE OUT FIELDS INTO SETTLEMENTS

PANJIM: Alleging a conspiracy by politicians, bureaucrats and others to convert traditional paddy fields into settlement, the villagers of Taleigao said they will strongly oppose any move to wipe away its natural assets.  The villagers are agitated over the commencement of a commercial project in a paddy field on the northern side of Taleigao.
"This is a low lying area and serves as a catchment area for rain water flowing from the range of hills on two sides of the village," Xavier Almeida, president of the progressive farmers' club of Taleigao, told reporters.
A delegation of farmers and residents submitted a memorandum to chief secretary Sanjay Srivastava and member secretary of the North Goa planning and development authority (NGPDA) Ashok Kumar on Thursday, demanding the revocation of development permissions to the builder and to bring the outline development plan (ODP) for Taleigao in line with the Regional Plan (RP) 2021.
The farmers also demanded a check into the role of the village panchayat and other government bodies in constructing roads to help builders sub-divide property and in facilitating other illegalities.
Kumar said that the development had been permitted as per the ODP, which showed it as a settlement area. " NGPDA has no role to play in this as the town and country planning board had approved the ODP. They should have objected then," he said, but agreed to look into the matter.
However, the villagers said they had raised protests against the ODP before it was finalized in 2006. "We have been fighting it for a long time, though fear and money power meant only a few actually came out in the open," Pundalik Raikar, a local, said. "The ODP is an encroachment in green areas and it does not conform to the RP 2021," he added.
The villagers alleged that the process of planning in Taleigao has been subverted by politicians. "Why is the government allowing an ODP in a village?" Raikar asked.
Stating that the villagers' fight was not against any individuals or politicans, another local Rajiv Naik said that apprehensions are being raised in some quarters that the destruction of paddy fields would affect the natural balance. "Our struggle is to save our fields, which is the legacy of our ancestors," he said. Destroying them may displace water in the low lying area close to the sea, he added.
he villagers said the ODP was an embezzlement of land as it deprived tenants of their ancestral land. "We are prepared to launch an agitation to save our lands from further destruction," Almeida said, urging the government to repair the damage caused by the development. They demanded a compensation of 500 crore for the losses caused to the farmers.

To succeed they will also need to eject Monseratte from this Constituency. He is the main perpertrator of all the evil in this part of Goa.His lack of vision and corruption has destroyed a lot of Taleigao.
This man Monseratte not only breeds rapists, but also rapes the environment and lives of himble villagers.
Hopefully they willnow realise tha for each Rs 2000-3000 they receive at Election times,Monseratte has in return from Commissions got several times more.

  2. There is still time for Taleigaocars to save themselves from the clutches of illeterate and chor Monster rat. The Taleigaocars should blame themselves for eating crumbs from Babush and remaning as his slaves. The master will always take the advantage if the slaves keep silent; now the slaves should take control and push Babush in the Arabian sea for good. The people of Taleigao should punish Babush so that others may follow.

  3. Most of the Beautiful trees are destroyed by Babush and his Political master the then BJP and now Congress.

We should get rid of all these foreign parties or invader Parties from Goa. We should ask for Independence and live our own lives. Babush is building Roads and Buildings for Ghantties and Bailos. Do we need roads? yes, do we need more complexes and buildings? certainly not.

The Panchayat of Taleigao thinks they own Taleigao, it's high time the people of Taleigao stands up against these crooks and vote them out of power, here Babush has a strong Ghantti vote Bank. This idiot will never lose. He has destroyed Taleigao, next is Panjim then comes Santa Cruz and Merces.

It can be seen thanks to NG, people are standing against corruption and the Invader Indian Parties, that are destroying our beautiful GOA:

  4. This destruction is as a direct result of the same illiterate persons being voted repeatedly to power by their crumb eaters. Take the crumb eaters out of the equation and we have a better Goa.

@N Fernandes, it is high time that people are now learning about the big rapist rat of Taleigao. The fields are not turned into concrete jungles which some people call it progress but at waht cost and who became bilionaire overnight? Are these people the poor farmers or Monserrate himself? There is still time left to save and it is now or never. Smoke the rat out of his hole and the evil will perish. We are yet to see the success of GRA and I do not see any articles or publicity given to them except for the fight to control supremacy over donations. Where is all the noise even in the Goan media? Is this just one more Goan noise that died down before it reached the ears?

  6. As is written ' You reap as you sow'. Dear Taleigaonkars, The Moster Rat has purchased you, your consciences and the future of your children for a few thousand rupees which matter very little in the long run given the rising inflation. It is high time and yet not too late for you to realise this and exterminate this cancer called Monserrate from the face of Goa. Lynch him or do something like that - for the sake of your children and for the future of Bhangarachem Goem.
