PONDA: The Ponda police on Sunday registered a case of wrongful restrain and threatening against Joaquim Carvalho of Panchwadi, after 26-year-old, Ms Rakshama Gaunkar lodged a complaint against him.
According to the complainant, Ms Gaunkar, she and her two other friends were threatened while returning home from work on the road at Panchawadi by Jaoquim. She further stated that they were wrongfully and forcefully blocked from proceeding home on Saturday evening.
The duty police officer informed that a police team rushed to the site on Saturday, after they were informed of the incident. However, the girls stated that they would lodge a complaint on Sunday and so accordingly, around 70 people came to the police station and registered the complaint.
Police sources said that police inspector, Mr C L Patil and PSI, Mr Sanjay Dalvi visited the site on Sunday, along with the girls. It may be recalled that since the clash between two groups, one favouring a mining bypass road while the other opposing it, small conflicts have been continuing and minor incidents have been reported to the police.
