PANJIM: Giving him benefit of doubt, Goa's "dupatta killer" Mahanand Naik was acquitted in two murder cases on Wednesday by a local court here. With this it reaches the amount of cases he is acquitted to seven so far. Mahanand Naik, also known as the dupatta killer, has been booked for killing 18 women spanning 15 years from 1995 till last year, when he was arrested in a rape case.
Principal Session Judge Nutan Sardesai acquitted him today in the murder cases of Darshana Naik (21) and Sunita Gaonkar (31), giving him benefit of doubt. Darshana was killed in 1994 and Sunita in 2003.
As per the chargesheet, Mahanand Naik had killed Darshana at Bambolim in September 1994. Her body was found abandoned near Goa Medical College and Hospital near here.
In the second case, the police had charged him of killing Sunita in January 2003. Sunita's body is yet to be traced. Police claimed he had killed the women with an intention to rob them of their gold ornaments.
As per the police, he used to strangulate them by taking them on a date at an isolated place. Mahanand was arrested in 2009 by Ponda police after a 23-year-old alleged that she was raped by him. During the interrogation, Mahanand allegedly confessed to a series of murders – PTI
Now Mahanand must files cases against all the police force involved in "framing" him. Then only the Gua Pulis will learn how to construct a good case with evidence. Because of the inefficient Gua Pulis, the criminals escape scot free.
ReplyDeleteBravo Goan Government and Courts. That's all I can say.
ReplyDeleteWhat a favorable opinion and judgment adopted by the judges despite uncertainty looms in the air. Any amount of cases filed against this serial killer will finally get acquitted and this doubt will never be exposed and the person set free. This is what is called Democracy in India.
ReplyDeleteI know that this sounds crazy...but it seems like Mahanand Naik has certainly exposed and beat the Corrupt...very corrupt Goa police for their complete lack of good evidence.
ReplyDeleteIf this was a football match played by one man(MAHANAND) vs the Full strength of Goa police, then Mahanand wins hands down and gets the Gold Medal.
What confuses me is these cases against Mahanand are being dealt rapidly.
Cases initiated by Aires against the Goas Judiciary and Advocate General are taking years to be dealt with.
To Mahanand...even though your are a convicted criminal...so far....you have helped to expose the Corrupt and inefficient Goa Cops.
Digu KAmat and Ravi Naik believe they are the best and professional.WHO ARE THEY KIDDING NOW!!
