PANJIM: Goa Chief Secretary Mr. Sanjay Srivastava has directed Law Secretary Mr. Pramod Kamat and Special Secretary Home Mr. Rajeev Verma to submit a report on the complaint filed by Adv. Aires Rodrigues against the professional misconduct by Goa’s controversial Advocate General Mr. Subodh Kantak.
Adv. Aires Rodrigues had in his complaint to the Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court stated that Mr. Subodh Kantak had in rank conflict of interest appeared for a private contractor in a matter before the Bombay High Court at Goa where the State of Goa was also a party. The Bombay High Court had sent the complaint to the Chief Secretary of Goa for necessary action.
Adv. Rodrigues had in his complaint drawn the attention of the Bombay High Court Chief Justice that in Writ petition 365/2010 before the High Court at Goa filed by Mr. Govind Nagvenkar where the State of Goa was also a party, that Advocate General Mr. Subodh Kantak was appearing for one of the private contractors Primeslots Events Private Ltd.
Adv. Rodrigues had further complained that Mr. Subodh Kantak instead of upholding the dignity and decorum of the high constitutional post of Advocate General had by this misdeed further tarnished the image and sanctity of the Advocate General’s post.
Adv. Rodrigues had also stated that as Advocate General of a State, Mr. Subodh Kantak should have maintained high standards of professional ethics.
Meanwhile, Adv. Aires Rodrigues has today stated that Advocate General Mr. Subodh Kantak in yet another case of professional misconduct had appeared for a Panaji Market shop keeper in a matter filed against the Corporation of City of Panaji.
Adv. Rodrigues has stated that Mr. Subodh Kantak appeared before the Panaji Civil Judge Junior Division in Regular Civil Suit 141/ 2010/ D on behalf of the shop keeper Mr. Hemantgiri Goswami against whom the Panaji Police had registered a criminal case for damaging a shop which is part of the alleged Panaji Market shops scam.
Adv. Rodrigues has stated that Mr. Subodh Kantak more so could not have appeared against the Corporation of City of Panaji having been its lawyer earlier.
